Adrian College and Lawrence University each built on division leads in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association last weekend, with the Bulldogs taking care of a weekend sweep of Lake Forest and the Vikings sweeping Northland to move to 6-0 (AC) and 5-0 (LU) in their respective divisions. Marian University also pulled off the pair of victories, topping Finlandia to move to 4-2 in league play and stay right behind Lawrence in the standings. The Bulldogs won by scores of 10-2 and 11-5 over the Foresters. Brad Fogal set an MCHA goaltending career-victories record with his 38th win Friday (37-Terry Dunbar, Marian University, 2000-2004). He is now 39-0 during his career in league tilts. He also picked up his 50th overall win between the pipes Friday. AC once again stayed at No. 5 in the new USCHO.com poll released today. The Vikes scored eight goals in both of their games, winning 8-5 Friday and 8-1 Saturday. Meanwhile, Marian earned a pair of 4-2 decisions over the Lions. Both the Vikings and Sabres remain receiving votes in the poll as well. MSOE was off for the week and Concordia dropped a pair of close games at Augsburg. Players of the Week
-Lawrence University Vikings senior forward Marc Howe (Cedarburg, Wis.) earns the nod for MCHA Player of the Week for his efforts in the sweep of the LumberJacks. The biology major started things off with a goal Friday during a game where he was +3 on the ice. He topped that with a hat trick and two assists for a five-point game Saturday. He finished the weekend with six points and a +7 rating. Other nominees: Adam Freeman (Marian) -Adrian College Bulldogs junior defenseman Jeremy Klaver (Strathroy, ONT) earns the MCHA Defensive Player of the Week award by getting offensive. His scoring prowess was on display against the Foresters, as he scored two goals and added three assists Friday before recording three more points (1G/2A) Saturday for a league-best eight point (3G/5A) weekend. -Marian University Sabres freshman goalie Alex Bjerk (Roseau , Minn. ) follows up last week's defensive award with his first MCHA Freshman of the Week honor. The freshman goaltender got the weekend sweep by stopping 41 of 45 Finlandia shots. He finished the weekend with a .911 save percentage and two big 4-2 MU wins. Other nominees: Zach Graham (Adrian), Gustaf Ahlberg (Lawrence) |

Plenty of storylines remain in place as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association enters the final month of the regular season. In the Southern Division, Adrian College and MSOE both swept weekend series to remain deadlocked heading down the stretch. The Bulldogs (6-1 and 9-2 winners over Finlandia) and Raiders (2-0 and 4-2 over Lawrence) are now tied at 12-1-1 in MCHA play and, coincidentally, 15-3-1 overall. A head-to-head series to close out the regular season looms the final weekend.
