The upcoming weekend marks the final set of league series before the calendar turns to 2012. In addition to Marian heading to Northland College, Lawrence University plays at Finlandia University, Adrian College plays at Concordia and MSOE and Lake Forest College battle in a home-and-home series.
Left to right: Colin McIntosh (Northland) ... Connor Toomey (MSOE) ... Brian Berger (Marian)
Players of the Week -Northland College Lumberjacks senior forward Colin McIntosh (Winnipeg, Manitoba) is the MCHA Player of the Week for his offensive output in his team's victory over Bethel. He tallied four goals and one assist in the 8-4 victory, hitting for a natural hat trick - in a span of less than three minutes in the second period - in the process.
-Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders senior goalie Connor Toomey (Burlington, MA) claims the MCHA Defensive Player of the Week for his work betwene the pipes against St. Mary's. Following a tough 2-1 overtime loss in game one, the construction management major responded with a 20-save shutout. It was the eighth of his career to tie Matt Burzon for the most by an MSOE goaltender and also marks the 11th time in his storied career he has been the Defensive Player of the Week.
-Marian University Sabres freshman forward Brian Berger (Hartland, Wis.) is the MCHA Freshman of the Week. Berger continued his strong play with a goal each game, including a power-play tally against #7 St. Norbert Saturday. He finished the weekend with an even +/- rating despite his team allowing eight goals in the two contests. Other nominees: Zeke Yslas (Northland), Cole Gibson (MSOE) |

Plenty of storylines remain in place as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association enters the final month of the regular season. In the Southern Division, Adrian College and MSOE both swept weekend series to remain deadlocked heading down the stretch. The Bulldogs (6-1 and 9-2 winners over Finlandia) and Raiders (2-0 and 4-2 over Lawrence) are now tied at 12-1-1 in MCHA play and, coincidentally, 15-3-1 overall. A head-to-head series to close out the regular season looms the final weekend.

Following 14 games of non-conference action over the Thanksgiving holiday, the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association returns to league play this week. It was a tough slate for the league last week, taking on several nationally-ranked teams. Marian University provided a bright spot, taking a two-goal lead on defending NCAA champion St. Norbert College before settling for a 5-5 tie against the #7 team in the country.
