After completing a pair of sweeps this past weekend, Adrian College (7-1-0) and MSOE (7-1-0) kept pace with each other and are currently tied with 14 points each to lead the Southern Division. Both teams remain in both national polls, with the Bulldogs at No. 11 (D3hockey.com) and No. 9 (USCHO.com) after taking a pair from Concordia University (9-4 & 5-3) and the Raiders coming in at No. 13 (D3hockey) and No. 11 (USCHO) after beating Lake Forest, 9-3 and 4-3.
In the Northern Division, Marian University stands in at 5-0-3 after a 1-0-1 weekend, edging Lawrence University (4-1-3) by two points at 13-11. Both teams missed opportunities to add to their totals this weekend, with the Sabres beating and tying Northland (8-4 & 5-5) and the Vikings splitting with Finlandia University (6-2 loss/5-1 win). League play will resume January 13, 2012, with non-conference games on the slate until then.

Players of the Week: -Adrian College Bulldogs junior forward Zach Graham (Palmerston, Ontario) is the MCHA Player of the Week after playing a solid role in AC's weekend sweep of the Falcons. He registered two goals and two assists in the win on Friday and then followed that up with two more assists in Saturday's win to sweep for six points (2G/4A) overall. His 18 points (6G/12A) ranks 12th in the nation. Other nominees: Matt Hughes (Lawrence), Brian Berger (Marian), Bradley Tierney (MSOE)
-Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders freshman defenseman Logan Bauman (Kutztown, PA) is the MCHA Defensive Player of the Week after his team swept a weekend series against Lake Forest. He added five more assists in the series to help him maintain his national points lead (13 points) for all NCAA D-III defensemen. He was also +4 on the weekend and was a key member of the penalty kill units that held off a pair of five-minute penalties in the third period of the second game to complete the sweep. Other nominees: Mitch Kriz (Marian)
-Marian University Sabres freshman forward Brian Berger (Hartland, Wis.) is the MCHA Freshman of the Week for the second-straight time. He started the weekend with a goal, two assists and a +3 rating in the 8-4 victory. He followed that up with two more goals, an assist and a +2 rating to finish the pair of contests with three goals, three assists and a +/- rating of +5. Other nominees: Erik Soderlund (Lawrence), Lukas Ciotti (Adrian), Logan Bauman (MSOE) |

Plenty of storylines remain in place as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association enters the final month of the regular season. In the Southern Division, Adrian College and MSOE both swept weekend series to remain deadlocked heading down the stretch. The Bulldogs (6-1 and 9-2 winners over Finlandia) and Raiders (2-0 and 4-2 over Lawrence) are now tied at 12-1-1 in MCHA play and, coincidentally, 15-3-1 overall. A head-to-head series to close out the regular season looms the final weekend.
