The Raiders did what they could, taking a pair of close contests over Lawrence University by scores of 3-2 and 4-2 to improve to 9-3-0 (18 points) in MCHA action. MSOE will have its chance this upcoming weekend, headed to Michigan for a series against the Bulldogs as well.
Northland College continued its recent hot streak, extending its unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) with a 6-2 win and 3-3 tie against Concordia. Finlandia also ran its winning streak to three games in a row with a sweep of Lake Forest, posting victories of 4-3 and 5-4.
Players of the Week -Adrian College Bulldogs sophomore forward Josh Cousineau (Penatang, ONT) is the MCHA Player of the Week. In the biggest matchup in the league this past weekend, he was involved with five of the eight goals his team scored in the two wins over Marian. Cousineau started his week with a goal and two assists Friday and then followed that up with a goal and assist in game two for a five point (2G/3A) weekend.
-Adrian College Bulldogs senior defenseman Chris Stansik (Livonia, Mich.) earns the MCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors not only for his strong effort on the ice against Marian, but also for what he has now reached for his career as well. He scored a goal Sunday to notch career point #100, becoming the first MCHA defenseman to top that mark. He went on to add a pair of assists Monday, which also moved him past the MCHA career record for assists by a defenseman. The weekend total moved him to 102 points (24G/78A), good for seventh place all-time. Other nominees: Cody Hasbargen (Northland), Connor Toomey (MSOE), Peter Nesper (Finlandia)
-Finlandia University Lions forward Justin Scott (Detroit, Mich.) is the MCHA Freshman of the Week. He helped his team to a weekend sweep of Lake Forest with a goal and assist in Friday's 4-3 win and then added the game-winner on Saturday in another one-goal decision. Other nominees: Shelby Gray (Adrian), Ian Perrier (Northland), Jason McAloon (Lake Forest) |

Plenty of storylines remain in place as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association enters the final month of the regular season. In the Southern Division, Adrian College and MSOE both swept weekend series to remain deadlocked heading down the stretch. The Bulldogs (6-1 and 9-2 winners over Finlandia) and Raiders (2-0 and 4-2 over Lawrence) are now tied at 12-1-1 in MCHA play and, coincidentally, 15-3-1 overall. A head-to-head series to close out the regular season looms the final weekend.

The much-anticipated battle between both top teams in each MCHA division wrapped up yesterday, and it was Adrian College that came out of the matchup against Marian University with a hard-earned sweep. The Bulldogs posted victories of 4-1 Sunday and 4-2 Monday to improve to 11-1-0 in league play (22 points) to give themselves some breathing room over the Sabres - now 7-2-3 (17 points) - and MSOE in search of another regular season league title.
